Just wasted 6 hours on a show that got cancelled after 1 season
Binged the whole first season of The OA over the weekend cause everyone kept saying how mind-blowing it was. Found out after episode 8 that Netflix cancelled it years ago and there's no resolution. I get cliffhangers but that ending was just cruel. Anyone else get burned by a cancelled show they didn't know was dead?

The OA ending was just cruel" - yeah, that's a rough one. My rule now: before I start a show, I Google if it got cancelled or if it's still running. Saved me from getting burned on Santa Clarita Diet and Mindhunter that way. Also helps to check if the show actually has a proper ending planned or if the writers just left stuff hanging. Cause a cancelled show that wraps up its main story is way different than one that ends on a cliffhanger. Netflix especially loves dropping shows after 1 or 2 seasons without warning, so I treat anything on there as potentially unfinished until proven otherwise.

Mindhunter actually wasn't cancelled the way people think, it just went on an indefinite hold because Fincher wanted to work on other projects. Netflix didn't officially kill it, the director stepped back on his own. Still sucks we never got more, just figured I'd mention it since the cancellation narrative gets thrown around a lot.
