Appreciation post: I watched a show with the subtitles off for the first time

I finally tried watching 'Severance' without the subtitles on, which I always use, and I caught way more of the background sounds and the actors' delivery. It made the tense office scenes feel completely different, almost like a new show. Has anyone else turned off a viewing habit and been surprised by how it changed a series for them?

My buddy watched a nature doc without the narrator once, said it just became a bunch of confused animals.

Turned off laugh tracks, sitcoms got way darker.

Start by giving the no-subtitles thing a fair shot for a few episodes. @masona62's doc story reminds me that removing one element can mess with the whole tone. It's a trick worth trying on any show, especially one with a lot of moody silences like Severance.
