Swapped my knobby tires for 32mm slicks on the Capitol Hill commute and shaved 6 minutes
I ride 4.5 miles each way from Capitol Hill down to the water and back, and I finally put on a pair of 32mm slicks about two weeks ago. I expected a little bump in speed but my ride time dropped from 26 minutes to about 20, which is way more than I thought tires could do. The tradeoff is the wet leaves near Volunteer Park feel a bit sketchier now, so I'm still figuring out how hard to lean into turns. Any of you run slicks year round in a rainy city, or do you swap back for fall?
