Pro tip: my kid's bike safety class in Portland got me to finally try a rear-view mirror
My daughter's school in Portland ran a bike safety class last month and the teacher asked if I could see behind me without turning my head. When I said no, she told me I was riding "blind on one side" and that a mirror would help me spot cars coming up behind me on the Springwater Corridor. I got a cheap handlebar mirror and after a week I can't ride without it, my neck actually hurts if I turn around that much now. Anyone else get pushed into a gear change by someone way younger than them telling them something obvious?
