Watched a guy at the trailhead try to fix a flat with a pair of pliers and a rock

He was trying to lever the tire off the rim and gouged the sidewall so deep it's junk now. Anyone got a good, cheap bead jack they'd recommend for trailside repairs?

@uma_lopez is right, that rock trick is a costly mistake. I feel for the guy though.

Seen that movie before, starring me. A good bead jack is worth its weight in not having to explain that gouge later.

Used to think they were a gimmick until I saw a guy do that.

Three different times this month I've watched people at the same trailhead try to fix something with whatever random junk they had in the bed of their truck. First guy tried to jump start his buddy's dead battery with speaker wire and got nothing but sparks. Second guy tried to patch a radiator hose with duct tape and a Red Bull can, made it maybe two miles before it blew. It's the same pattern in every part of life. People think they can hack something together instead of spending fifty bucks on the right tool, then end up spending three hundred on a new tire or a tow. That bead jack you're looking for would have paid for itself on the first use.
