The 3 hour job that turned into a whole Saturday

Honestly I thought I was just swapping a bottom bracket on my old Trek. Simple enough, right? I’ve done it a dozen times. But the shell was way out of spec and the new cartridge wouldn’t thread in straight. I spent like 2 hours just chasing threads with a tap and trying to figure out if I was cross threading it or if the frame was actually bent. Eventually I realized the plastic cup on the non-drive side had a tiny crack I missed. Replaced that and it went in smooth in 5 minutes. Took me 4.5 hours total for something that should have been under an hour. Has anyone else had a frame that just fought you on every step like that?

Feel your pain man. That's just how bike projects go sometimes.
