That time I misaligned a derailleur hanger on a trailside fix in Pisgah
I was 12 miles into a ride near Brevard when my shift went totally dead, and after bending the hanger back with a multitool and a rock, I got it shifting clean enough to finish the loop, but has anyone actually tried one of those portable hanger alignment tools for trail repairs?

The last time I was in that exact spot near Brevard I used a Park Tool DAG-2.2 on the trail and it saved my ride. Those portable tools are legit if you're willing to carry the weight. They let you get the hanger within a millimeter without having to eyeball it against a rock. I'd say it's worth the grams if you ride rocky stuff like Pisgah where hangers get tweaked regularly. Just make sure you practice with it at home first before you need it on the trail.
