Spent 20 minutes chasing a ghost shift on a Shimano 105 rear derailleur until I noticed the cable ferrule was sitting crooked in the housing stop
Pushed it in straight with a pair of pliers and the indexing clicked right back into place like nothing was ever wrong, has anyone else had a tiny seating issue like that cause a whole setup to go haywire?

Didn't you read something about Shimano's cable stop tolerances being super tight on some batches? That sounds like a frustrating simple fix for sure.

Yeah I think I saw something on a mechanic's blog about that. They were saying some of the 2023 batches had a slightly off cable channel that made the housing not sit right. Was supposed to be a minor casting thing.

Was that just on the 105 groupsets or the higher end ones too?
