Snapped a chain on a customer's e-bike on Saturday and the motor kept running for a second
Last Saturday at my bench in Portland I was doing a test ride on a guy's mid-drive e-bike after swapping the rear cassette and my chain snapped right at the master link. The motor kept spinning for about a second because the torque sensor still thought I was pedaling, and the chain whipped around the chainstay before I killed the power. I pulled the battery, checked the frame, and luckily it only scuffed the paint, so I replaced the chain with a new one and told the guy to keep it in a lower assist mode on hills. Has anyone else had a chain snap like that right after a drivetrain swap, and is there a trick to slow down the cutoff on these motors?
