Shoutout to the guy who said you can't over-tighten a carbon seatpost clamp
I followed that advice on a customer's bike yesterday and the frame cracked at the binder bolt, a $2000 repair. Has anyone actually had a carbon clamp hold without being cranked down?

I mean, I just use a torque wrench every single time now. It feels like you're barely tightening it, but that's all carbon needs. Saved me from a few close calls for sure.

You say it feels like you're barely tightening it, but that's the whole point. My shop uses torque wrenches too, and we still see frames come in with hairline cracks from normal use. The spec is just too low for how people actually ride.
