Old timer told me to use grease on pedal threads

Been building bikes for years, always used loctite. Guy at the co-op said straight grease. Tried it on my last build, pedals came off smooth yesterday for a crank swap. No more fighting seized threads.

Took me three years and a stripped crank arm to learn this lesson the hard way. Grease is the way, I swear by it now. Haven't touched loctite since my buddy at the shop talked me out of it. My pedals actually unscrew when I want them to, not when the bike decides it's time for a fight. What kind of grease do you like for that job?

Loctite has its place though, I've saved a few cranks on my beater bike that would've stripped without it. Depends on the setup for sure, but a tiny dab of blue on the threads has never let me down if I let it cure overnight.

Wait, three years? You stuck with loctite for three years before giving up? That's some serious dedication to fighting your own hardware. I stripped a pedal once and that was enough for me, I couldn't imagine going through that for years. Grease really does make life easier, especially if you ride in wet conditions where things get crusty quick.
