My customer's kickstand came back 6 months later looking like a different part

I had a guy bring in his commuter bike where the kickstand was so bent it almost hit the chain, and after I just swapped the spring and tightened the bolt it clicked straight again, has anyone else dealt with a part that looked totally wrecked but just needed one tiny fix?

Had that exact thing with a buddy's cargo bike last year - the kickstand arm looked like a banana but it was just the pivot bolt backed out a quarter turn. Quick dab of thread locker and a snug down fixed it for good.

@craig.parker you check if the frame mounts were wallowed out too?

Haven't seen wallowing on the frame mounts myself, but I've heard about it on some older cargo bike forums. @the_kelly brings up a good point about checking those mounts anyway. My buddy's kickstand issue turned out to be the bolt coming loose after a long tour, but a little thread locker and proper torque sorted it out without needing new parts. Surprising how often something simple like that gets overlooked until the stand starts wobbling.
