Hit my 2,000th wheel true last Friday and the number that actually got me was 38
I was logging the job in my book like always and the count came up to 2,000 wheels trued since I started keeping track back in 2019. The surprise was 38, which is how many wheels I had to redo in that same stretch because I skipped stress relieving the spokes before the final tension check. That habit cost me maybe 20 minutes each time and a few return visits from folks who felt a ping on their first ride. I finally built a little wooden block with a slot cut in it to flex the spokes properly, and my come-backs went to almost zero after that. Now the only wheels that wander are the cheap ones with rusted nipples that round off no matter what I do. Curious what stress relief trick you all use, the block method or just squeezing spokes by hand?
