My gooseneck kettle died slowly and I wasted 2 months blaming my beans

The pour speed was fine at first, but after 6 weeks the flow started pulsing, so I kept dialing in my grind and water temp like a fool. Turns out the internal thermostat was sticking, and the water was hitting 190 instead of 205. It took me 2 full months and 4 bags of expensive single origin before I tested the actual water temp with a cheap probe, and I felt stupid. Has anyone else had a kettle fail in a way that looks like a brewing problem, not a hardware one?

Man I heard about this on a coffee forum once, wild how sneaky that failure was.
