Appreciation post: the library bulletin board in Ames, Iowa taught me more about getting eyes on stuff than any hashtag guide
I was dropping off a package at the library in Ames last Tuesday and killed 10 minutes reading the community bulletin board by the front door. Every flyer had the same layout, big bold letters at the top, one clear date, and a tear-off phone number at the bottom, and it dawned on me that this is exactly how posts should look if you want the feed to pick them up. So I tried it on my hobby page for 2 weeks, first line as the hook, one clear thing to do, contact info right at the end, and my reach went up way more than when I was stuffing hashtags everywhere. Makes me wonder if I have been overthinking this whole thing when the answer was hanging in a library hallway the whole time. Has anyone else tried copying old school flyer rules for their posts?
