Just realized my coworker's trick of buying shampoo in bulk at the salon is saving her $80 a year

We were chatting at lunch and she said she asks her stylist for the gallon jugs they use on clients, and it comes out to about $12 per liter versus $28 for the small store bottles. I had no clue you could even ask for that. Has anyone tried this with other salon stuff like conditioner or does it only work if you know the person?
