Rant: My old Dell CRT monitor gave me a better retro gaming picture than my fancy flat panel ever could

So I dug out my old Dell P991 CRT from my parents' garage last weekend. Hooked it up to my retro PC with a VGA cable and played some Quake 3 from back in 2001. The motion clarity was just different, no blur at all compared to my 144Hz LCD. Has anyone else switched back to an old CRT for classic games or am I just crazy?
