Unpopular opinion: I think cherry tomatoes are way easier than I expected for a small balcony

I was reading this gardening blog last week and it said a single cherry tomato plant can produce up to 10 pounds of fruit in a season, which blew my mind since I only have a 3x5 foot balcony. I started one in a 5 gallon bucket back in April and now I'm picking like 20 tomatoes every other day, totally hooked. Has anyone else had a surprise favorite plant that just took off way more than you planned for?

Oh man, I gotta disagree a little bit. I tried cherry tomatoes on my balcony too and the vines got so huge and tangled they nearly took over my railing, plus I had to water them like twice a day in the heat. The yield was solid but the maintenance was way more than I bargained for with a small space.

Totally feel you on that. My cherry tomato plant is a total beast too, I had to tie it up with string to keep it from taking over the whole railing. The watering thing is no joke either, especially when the sun hits that bucket.
