Tried putting eggshells in my balcony soil and it fixed my droopy tomatoes

I was struggling with my cherry tomatoes on my 3rd floor balcony in Austin. They kept getting blossom end rot and the leaves looked sad no matter how much I watered. Read somewhere that crushed eggshells add calcium but I was skeptical. I started saving shells from breakfast and crushing them up really fine with a mortar and pestle. Mixed a handful into each pot about 2 months ago and the difference is night and day. The plants are way sturdier and the fruit is coming in clean with no rot. I still use a basic liquid fertilizer every couple weeks but the eggshells seem to have fixed the core issue. Has anyone else tried this or got another cheap fix for balcony soil problems?

Jeez, that's such a smart trick. I did the same thing last year with my peppers. Ground em up to powder, not chunks. Plants went from droopy to perky in like two weeks. Blossom rot is a total pain. Cheap fix beats buying fancy calcium spray any day.

Funny how fixing one small thing in the soil can make everything else click. It's like when you swap out a bad charger for your phone and suddenly it charges fast again. Little changes really add up.
