The upside down watering method I laughed at 3 months ago

I saw someone on YouTube watering their balcony tomatoes from a tray underneath instead of pouring water on top. I thought that was just lazy gardening honestly. But after 2 months of dealing with fungus gnats and leaf spots on my 4 pots, I caved and tried it. Now my plants look way healthier and I barely have any bugs. Did anyone else have a weird method they swore would never work but totally changed their small space growing?

Used to mock bottom watering too but those fungus gnats disappeared as soon as I switched.

Honestly, that was the exact same thing for me. I was stubborn about it for way too long but the difference in pest control is wild.
