That $60 self-watering pot set turned into a mold farm
Bought a 3-pack of those self-watering pots from a garden center in Portland last month because I thought it would save my basil while I was away for work. Came back to slimy roots and mold on the soil surface because the reservoir kept everything too damp in the shade. Has anyone else had this problem, or do you just have to live with checking the water level every single day?

Wait, did you poke extra holes in the bottom? I had the same issue with mine until I drilled like four more drainage holes and stopped filling the reservoir all the way. Honestly these things seem to work way better in sun than shade, if you have a brighter spot for your basil they're less gross.
