Stop using dark pots if your balcony faces south like mine
I switched to light colored containers last June after my pepper roots cooked in black plastic, leaves went yellow by 2 PM every day. Anyone else deal with soil temps getting crazy high on a full sun balcony?

Roots cooked in black plastic" sounds dramatic, but plenty of folks grow peppers in black pots in full sun without issues. Maybe your watering schedule was the real problem, not the pot color.
