Read a post on here about using milk jugs as mini greenhouses and gave it a shot

Saw someone mention cutting the bottom off a milk jug and putting it over their seedlings to keep them warm at night. I live in Chicago where the temps still drop pretty low in April. Tried it with my pepper starts and three days later they look way stronger than the ones I left uncovered. Has anyone else had luck with this or is it just a fluke?

...but you gotta take the cap off during the day or you'll cook them. Saw a guy in my neighborhood lose a whole tray of tomatoes that way, they just steamed in there. Still, for those cold nights it's a solid trick, just don't forget to vent it once the sun hits.

Yeah @the_david, "cold nights" is the only time I'd bother with caps too.
