Pro tip: fabric pots beat plastic for my balcony peppers

I switched my tomato and pepper pots from standard plastic nursery containers to 5-gallon fabric grow bags last spring on my 4th floor balcony in Austin. Within 3 weeks the roots were way healthier and the soil dried more evenly, but I had to water almost every day once July hit. Has anyone else found a good drip setup that doesn't take up half the rail space?

Fabric bags drying out faster is exactly why I switched back to plastic for my balcony. You basically signed up for daily watering duty in Texas heat, which feels like a full time job for a few peppers. Plastic holds moisture way longer and my plants did just fine once I added some perlite to the mix.
