My neighbor's pigeon knocked over my pepper seedlings and now I have a chicken wire fortress
So I live in Chicago on the third floor and my balcony gets great sun, which is why I had 6 jalapeno seedlings going strong in red solo cups back in May. My neighbor in the building next door keeps pigeons on his roof, like 15 of them, and one of them apparently decided my balcony was a landing strip. I came out with my coffee one morning and found two cups tipped over, dirt everywhere, and one seedling just gone, poop on the railing too. I was so mad I went to the hardware store that same day and spent $34 on chicken wire and zip ties. Built a little cage around the whole setup, looks ridiculous, like my peppers are in jail. My girlfriend laughed at me for a week but you know what, not one plant has been touched since. Has anyone dealt with birds landing on their balcony garden? Curious if there is a smarter fix than my wire box because it makes watering a pain.
