My balcony tomatoes are causing a bee scare with my neighbor

My cherry tomatoes bring in lots of bees, but my neighbor has a bad allergy and is really worried. I'm torn between growing my own food and keeping the peace next door. How do you handle stuff like this?

Modern life is just a series of tiny negotiations like this.

Man, that's a rough situation. I totally get wanting to grow your own food but also not wanting to risk your neighbor's health. @johnfoster had a good point about switching to herbs that bees don't bother as much. It might not be the same as tomatoes, but it could be a fair compromise. From what I've seen, open talks with neighbors often lead to better answers than we expect. Maybe you can try growing tomatoes in a shared spot or at a different time. It's all about finding that balance so everyone feels okay.

Yeah, that's a tough spot. My friend had a similar thing with lavender plants on her patio. Her next door neighbor's kid was allergic, and the bees were all over it. They talked it out and she ended up switching to herbs like mint and thyme that bees don't care for as much. It wasn't the same, but it kept the peace and she could still grow something.
