I swore I'd never grow tomatoes on my 4th floor balcony, then my aunt in Phoenix asked me one simple thing
I spent two summers killing tomato plants on my south facing balcony in Chicago because I thought a 5 gallon bucket was plenty of room and full sun meant all day sun. My aunt, who grows more food on her patio than I do in 40 square feet, asked me why I was baking the roots instead of shading the pot after 2pm, and it honestly never crossed my mind that the problem was heat, not water. Has anyone else had to rethink their whole sun plan once July hits?
