Balcony vs windowsill: which actually grows better peppers? I got totally different results

I tried growing the same jalapeno seeds in two spots this summer. The balcony plants got leggy and barely produced. The ones on the kitchen windowsill got thick stems and gave me 12 peppers. Only difference was one had direct morning sun and wind, the other had filtered light all day with no breeze. Anyone else find that a sheltered spot beats an open balcony for certain veggies?

Bet you the balcony pots dried out way faster with the wind stealing all the moisture.

Totally feel you on this @ray_webb6. I had some herbs on my back porch last summer and that constant breeze just sucked the life right out of them. Had to check them twice a day sometimes, they'd be bone dry by noon even if I watered them in the morning. It's rough when you're trying to keep stuff alive and the wind is just working against you the whole time. Hope yours bounce back okay, man.
