Pro tip: My sister-in-law said my pie crust looked like a 'sad, gray cracker' and it fixed my baking.
She told me I was overworking the dough and using ice water from the tap, which wasn't cold enough. Now I freeze my butter for 15 minutes and use vodka instead of some water, and my crusts are flaky. What's the one piece of baking advice that actually worked for you?

Oh, the cold butter thing is real.

Yeah the cold butter thing, @the_henry. It's the worst when you're trying to spread it and just tear up your toast. Gotta plan ahead and leave it out.

Tell me more about that vodka trick @wyatt_green - does it really not mess with the flavor? I've heard people do that but I figure it'd leave a weird taste in the crust. I'm always looking for ways to get flakier results without turning the dough into a tough mess.
