My sourdough starter hit 500 grams and I panicked

I was feeding it like normal last Tuesday, just adding 100 grams each of flour and water to my usual jar. When I weighed it after mixing, the scale read 500 grams exactly, which is double what I usually keep. I had no idea it grew that much between feedings because I wasn't weighing the discard. Now my kitchen smells like a brewery and I have way too much starter. Has anyone else had their starter balloon up on them out of nowhere?

Yeah that happens to me all the time, not just with sourdough. I'll buy one basil plant and suddenly I'm giving away pesto to the neighbors. Things just quietly multiply when you're not looking, like tupperware lids or charging cables.

Honestly, did you see that article about why socks actually go missing in the dryer? It said they can get sucked into the vent hose or stuck in the drum seal. Tbh it made me feel a little better that it's not just me being crazy. The whole thing with stuff multiplying feels like some weird household law nobody talks about. Like you buy one cable and next week you have a drawer full of them, but never the one you need right then.

Oh man, the tupperware lid thing is so real. I swear they have a secret life in the back of the cabinet. I finally matched all my containers last month, felt so proud, and now there's a single green lid with no bowl. Where does it even come from? Same with socks, honestly. The dryer just eats one and spits out three you've never seen before.
