It took one batch of cookies at my sister's place in Phoenix to realize my oven runs 25 degrees hot
I always wondered why my edges burnt while the middle stayed doughy, then I saw her cheap oven thermometer read 375 when the dial said 350, so now I trust the tool over the knob, has anyone else had a whole oven calibration moment they missed for years?
Oh please. A 25 degree difference is hardly a crisis. Ovens fluctuate by that much just from opening the door to peek at your food. You act like you discovered some great mystery when really you just needed to rotate your pan halfway through baking. I have used ovens my whole life without a thermometer and my cookies turn out fine. Maybe the issue isnt the oven, maybe its your recipe or your technique. Anyway, if you really care that much, just buy an oven thermometer and move on with your life. Its a five dollar fix, not a life changing revelation.
