Bought a $40 digital scale for bread and it was a game changer
Always thought eyeballing flour was fine until I had three flat loaves in a row. The scale paid for itself in the first weekend of consistent dough. Anyone else fight switching over to weighing instead of cups?

Start laughing, but only because I remember being so stubborn about my measuring cups. I honestly thought weighing was just for fancy bakers or people with too much time on their hands. Then I watched a friend dump 4 cups of flour into a bowl and realized I'd probably been using way too much or too little this whole time. That first loaf after I started weighing came out perfect and I felt like a fool for fighting it for so long. Now I can't believe I ever went by volume for something that precise.

Why would anyone overcomplicate bread making with a scale when your hands can tell you exactly what the dough needs? I've been making pretty solid loaves for years just using a scoop and a prayer, and the slight variations from batch to batch give each one its own character. Sure it takes a little practice, but that's the fun part - learning to read your dough by feel instead of relying on a gadget.
