A stranger at the grocery store saved my birthday cake
I was in the baking aisle looking at cake flour, totally lost. This older lady saw my face and asked if I was making something special. I told her my first layer cake for my son's party was a dense brick. She spent 5 minutes explaining how to properly fold in egg whites and wrote 'gentle turns' on my flour bag with a pen. Has anyone else had a random person give you the exact tip you needed?

Wait, she wrote on the bag with just a regular pen? That's kind of insane if you think about it. I would have been worried the ink would bleed through or something, but I guess she's done that before. For her to just go for it on a stranger's flour bag with no hesitation is wild.

Wait, she wrote on your flour bag with a pen? That's the wildest part to me. I would have been so worried about the ink getting in the mix, but I guess she knew what she was doing. What a bold move from a total stranger. That kind of trust is amazing.
