Warning: Tried that viral "AI toothbrush" app that scans your brushing

Used it for two weeks straight until the app told me I missed my molars while I was literally holding the brush against them in a mirror, so I learned these things are just fancy timers with random guesswork built in - has anyone else caught these apps being dead wrong about what you're actually doing?

Honestly, the part about "fancy timers with random guesswork" is spot on. Tbh these apps are basically using your phone's motion sensors to guess at your brushing, they can't actually see what you're doing in your mouth. Ngl, I caught mine telling me I missed my front teeth when I was literally scrubbing them for a full two minutes. It's just not that accurate because the technology isn't there yet to track individual tooth surfaces through a camera or sensor. You're better off just using a regular timer and paying attention to how it feels.

That's exactly what I've been seeing too. It's like everything these days is designed to look smart but just kinda... misses the point. My neighbor has a fridge that tells her when the milk expires but she still opens it and sticks her head in there to find the eggs, you know? At some point all this "smart" stuff just adds steps instead of helping. Like how my washing machine has a "steam refresh" cycle that takes an hour but a steamer does it in 5 minutes. The whole thing feels like we're solving problems nobody had.
