That article from 1995 saying the internet would never replace bookstores

Ngl I still remember reading this in a newspaper clipping my dad saved. It said something like 'the internet is a passing fad for computer nerds' and predicted Barnes & Noble would dominate forever. My dad didn't even own a computer back then, so he totally agreed with it. Fast forward to 2023 and that same Barnes & Noble near us closed down after 20 years. Anyone else have an old relative who still brings up predictions like that?

Honestly the irony is just wild to me. They spent years clowning on people for taking the web seriously and now they're cashing in on it. Guess the joke's on them when the checks start rolling in. Amazing how fast people can flip their whole stance when there's money on the table.
