That 1999 article saying we'd all be reading newspapers on flexible screens by 2005
I found an old Wired piece in a box last weekend that claimed rollable e-paper would kill dead trees by 2005. Here we are 20 years later and I'm still folding a physical paper on my lunch break because e-ink readers cost as much as my car payment did back then. Anyone else got a stack of these old predictions they kept for the laughs?

Did you find any of those predictions actually funny in hindsight or more like painfully optimistic?

Not sure why we gotta frame it like some tragedy. They were predictions, not promises, nobody was holding a gun to anyone's head to believe them. A lot of them were just people guessing and being wrong, which is basically the story of the internet. It's more funny to me how seriously everyone takes this stuff now, like we're all supposed to be fortune tellers or something.
