That 1995 article saying email was a passing fad cracks me up every time
Honestly I found a scanned copy of a 1995 Newsweek piece online that predicted email would never replace phone calls or letters. It said people would get tired of typing and go back to real conversations. My grandma literally emailed me about it last week, meanwhile I checked my inbox 12 times today. Has anyone else dug up old tech takes that aged worse than this one?

I actually did this after my buddy sent me that exact Newsweek scan, and then we went down a rabbit hole pulling up other old predictions. The best one we found was a guy in like 1993 saying the internet would flop because nobody wants to read off a screen when they could just go to the library. There was also a big shot from a phone company who said nobody would ever need a computer in their house. Best tip I can give you is to save those scans in a folder, because they make great comebacks when someone tells you some new tech is just a fad. My grandma had the same reaction as yours though, she just laughed and said well I guess we were all wrong. It is wild how sure everyone was back then that people would get sick of the new thing.
