Shoutout to the 1962 Popular Mechanics article promising we would all have robot maids by 1982
Found it in a stack of old magazines at my grandma's place in Dayton last weekend, and it straight up says a robot would do your dishes for under $1,500 by the early 80s. My dishwasher just died after 4 years, so where is my robot?
I always figured the robot maid thing was just how people talked back then, like how we say we'll have flying cars someday. But seeing the actual price tag in print kinda changes that, they really thought 1500 bucks would get you a dish washing robot in 20 years.
