Remember when people said we'd all be using VR headsets for work by now?
I was just digging through some old tech magazines from 2015 and found this article claiming by 2025 everyone would have virtual desktops in VR for their 9-5 job. Instead I'm still squinting at a 24 inch monitor in my home office in Tucson. Anyone else remember believing this stuff or am I just getting old and nostalgic for bad predictions?

Read somewhere that the metaverse hype was just a way for companies to sell expensive headsets nobody actually needed for work. Turns out most people just want a solid monitor and a decent chair, not a sweaty face device strapped on for eight hours. All those old predictions feel like a fever dream now honestly.

Man, you're totally right @susan_wells! I remember reading those articles too and thinking "yeah, I'll be working in some cool virtual space by now." Instead I'm still fighting with glare on my basic monitor and trying not to bump my knee on my cheap desk. The whole metaverse work thing never made sense to me after I actually tried a headset for an hour. Got a headache, sweated like crazy, and couldn't find my coffee cup. People don't want to wear a brick on their face all day, they just want their screen to work and their chair to not hurt their back.
