Pro tip: don't trust those "lifetime" SSD warranties from 2015
Had a 6 year old Samsung 850 EVO die on me mid-shift Saturday night. Lost the entire POS system backup because I thought that 10 year warranty meant itd last. Anyone else get burned by old SSD reliability predictions?

Buddy of mine learned this the hard way with his 840 EVO. It corrupted itself during a firmware update and Samsung basically said "sorry, warranty covers hardware failure not data recovery". Now he keeps everything on a mirrored pair of cheap Crucial drives and swaps them out every 3 years like clockwork.

Three years feels like overkill for SSDs though.
