Paid $150 for a 'lab tested' USB drive in 2019 that died in 3 weeks
I bought this thing off a site that claimed it was tested in a real lab and would outlive my laptop, and it croaked after 3 weeks of holding nothing but vacation photos. I found an old forum post from 2009 where a guy swore flash storage would replace hard drives by 2012 and that anything bigger than 8GB was overkill, which is funny since I was trying to move 40GB of pictures. What's the worst 'future proof' tech you dropped cash on that died way too fast?
