My dad laughed at me in 2004 for saying I'd never need a fax machine again
We were standing in his office in Dayton when I said it. He pointed at the fax machine and asked what I'd do without one for contracts. I was 19 and just got my first email address, so I felt pretty smart. He ran a small insurance shop and faxed maybe 30 pages a week back then. Fast forward to last month and he called me asking how to scan something to his email. He hasn't touched a fax in 8 years. Did your parents hold onto any old tech way longer than they should have?
Man, this hits close to home. My buddy Dave went through the exact same thing with his mom and her stupid landline. She kept paying for that thing until like 2019 because she swore cell phones dropped calls too much. Dave finally got her to give it up when her bill went up again and he showed her she was paying 60 bucks a month for a phone nobody ever called. Now she texts him pictures of her garden all day long. The funny part is she still asks him to print stuff out for her because she refuses to read anything longer than a paragraph on a screen. Old habits die hard I guess.
