My 2008 prediction about physical media dying still gets me laughed at

I used to swear by a 2008 Wired article claiming Blu-ray would be the last physical format because downloads would cap out at 480p for a decade. A buddy told me to stop trusting that and try streaming on his Roku box in 2010. He was right, I saw Netflix stream in 720p and my whole argument crumbled. Now that article sits in this sub as a punchline and I still own a stack of unwatched Blu-rays. Anyone else hang onto a format way past its sell-by date because some tech writer convinced you?

Haha, "Blu-ray would be the last physical format" is peak 2008 energy. I still have a sealed copy of The Dark Knight on Blu-ray from back then, but it's basically a museum piece now. My buddy's Roku broke the same way and I never fully recovered. Honestly, at this point I'm just waiting for that Wired writer to predict we'll go back to laserdisc so I can start hoarding those too.
