My 2004 Palm Pilot prediction about cloud storage was hilariously wrong

I found an old tech blog post I wrote in 2004 saying cloud storage would never catch on because people wouldnt trust the internet with their data. I actually remembered it today while digging through my laptop bag during a layover in Denver. We had a 256MB USB drive back then and I thought that was plenty forever. Now Im sitting here with 200GB of photos alone and my old take is just comedy gold. Anyone else stumbled on their own ancient tech predictions and had a good laugh?

Digging through old hard drives a few years back and found a 2006 forum post where I swore physical media would outlive streaming, because nobody would want to wait for buffering. I think my exact words were "fast internet will never be everywhere, period." Now I stream 4K from a cabin in the woods, and my massive DVD tower just sits there collecting dust, a monument to how wrong I was.

About 200 DVDs and Blu-rays sat in my closet for a decade before I finally boxed them up last spring. It's funny how the buffering excuse just vanished once fiber showed up, but I still kept half of them in case the power grid goes sideways. You called it wrong, @ivan_perez, but at least you can binge the whole story of how tech beat us both.
