Found an ancient CD-ROM at a garage sale with a "internet survival guide" from 1994
It had a section saying email would never replace fax machines because people need paper copies... paid $2 for it just for the laughs. The guide also claimed the "information superhighway" would only be useful for niche researchers. I popped it in my old laptop and scanned the pages, the predictions are hilariously bad. Has anyone else stumbled on old tech predictions that make you wonder what people were smoking back then?

Wait, was it one of those "Internet for Dummies" type books from back then? I found a similar one at a thrift store a few years back, this big yellow and black spiral bound thing from 1995. The part that got me was a chapter on "netiquette" that said you should always type out your email replies in ALL CAPS because it shows you're serious. Also told people to print out every webpage they visited for their records, like a physical paper trail. I keep it on my coffee table just to flip through when I need a laugh. Those old predictions really make you realize how fast things changed.
