A guy at a 2003 Best Buy in Dayton told me nobody would ever need more than 512 MB of RAM for a home PC
I was 14 and my dad was buying our first family computer, and the sales guy said 512 MB was 'future proof' because the internet was mostly text and email anyway. Now I'm sitting here with 32 gigs just to keep Chrome from choking on three tabs. What's the worst 'future proof' line a sales person ever fed you?
Did he actually say the words "future proof" with a straight face? Bet that same guy told people a 40 gig hard drive would last them a decade. What made you finally cave and bump up to 32 gigs, was it one specific thing that broke the camel's back?
