Tried that $2 rice cooker from Goodwill and it burned my dinner in 10 minutes
I grabbed this beat up little rice cooker for like $2 at a thrift store near my apartment last Saturday. Thought I was being smart saving money on something simple. Got it home, washed it, threw in some jasmine rice and water, and within 10 minutes smoke was pouring out of the bottom. Turns out the heating element was totally cracked and it just scorched everything. Learned that cheap electronics from thrift stores are a gamble when you can't test them first. Has anyone else had a kitchen appliance fail on you like that?

And? You bought a two dollar rice cooker from a thrift store. What did you expect, a Michelin star meal? Thrift store electronics are junk for a reason, nobody is selling their perfectly working rice cooker for pocket change. You got what you paid for, literally. Next time spend the twenty bucks on a new one from Walmart and you won't have to worry about your apartment catching fire.
