Took 3 hours to find a simple HDMI handshake bug in my setup
I swapped my monitor arm last weekend and suddenly my PC wouldn't display anything past the BIOS screen. Spent an hour swapping cables, another hour reseating the GPU, even reinstalled drivers. Turns out the new arm put pressure on the HDMI port just enough to mess with the handshake... a $15 extension cable fixed it in 30 seconds. Has anyone else wasted time on a tiny physical issue when the software rabbit hole was a dead end?

Happens to me all the time with home projects - I'll chase software fixes for hours when the real problem is just a wire bent wrong or a screw barely loose. Things like HDMI handshake bugs always make me feel dumb after because the fix is so simple compared to all the reinstalling and resetting I did first. Does this kind of "hardware first" lesson ever stick for you, or do you still dive into the software deep end first every time?
