Three hours to install a simple attic antenna because nobody labels anything

I spent last Saturday trying to put a TV antenna in my attic in Austin. The box said 15 minutes max. Three hours later I was still up there sweating because every coax cable in my house looks identical and none of them were labeled. I finally gave up and ran a new cable from the antenna straight to the living room through a window gap. Has anyone else dealt with buying something that claims to be easy but the real problem is your house was built by people who hated future you?

Man I feel your pain. The problem is nobody ever labels anything in a house because it's all installed during construction when they're rushing to finish. By the time you move in it's a mystery box of wires behind the walls. I had the same thing with my attic antenna setup except I spent an extra hour trying to figure out which cable went to the bedroom before I just gave up and did what you did. Running a new cable through a window gap is honestly the smarter move because you know exactly what it's connected to. Plus those old cables might have bad connectors or be damaged from sitting in the attic for years. Next time I'm buying a label maker before I even touch the ladder.

Label your cables next time - takes five minutes and saves hours of guessing.
