That $200 mesh router made my smart home worse, went back to the old one

Bought a tri-band AX5400 setup last month because my wifi kept dropping during game downloads. Spent a whole Saturday setting it up, app kept crashing, had to reset it twice. Then my smart plugs started ignoring commands and my TV buffered worse than before. The old $80 router from 2019 handles everything fine. Returned it after 12 days. Anyone else downgrade back to older gear after chasing specs?
